A local carpenter built ALL wood work in the villa from "primavera wood", a tropical, light-colored, hard wood that means "Spring" in Spanish and resists termites.

He has a shop barely held together with clothes pins, yet he does this
beautiful work. |

The posts are made from very hard Brazilian tree trunks. The frame of the palapa is Bogondillo wood. The ladder on which the palm fronds are placed is odade, which looks like a dark bamboo. The wrapping they used to wrap the joints is a strong vine.
